I've personally have been in the commercial diving business since 2005. Most of my weld is done topside on various projects. So when I get to weld underwater I jump to the occasion. Elite Diving and Salvage is about to start there first underwater welding job as a company. We have prepared and double checked are equipment. As a commercial diving contractor or diver you must always double check welding/burning equipment. Follow instructions with amps and voltage for the rod. Check the welding machine reverse polarity. Have a good knife switch. Buy some good rubber gloves. And keep the diver from getting in between the ground. This will keep the shock to the diver at bare minimal. Hope this helps to refresh the mind before you splash.
